Alternative treatments for mental health with Dr. D Dubose - Episode 35

In this episode, we have the privilege of delving into the world of alternative treatments for mental health with Dr. D Dubose, a distinguished psychiatrist and certified transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) physician. Dr. Dubose brings his wealth of knowledge and experience to the forefront, shedding light on innovative approaches, notably his work with ketamine and TMS. His primary focus lies in addressing treatment-resistant depression, a condition that exacts a profound toll on individuals and their families. With unwavering dedication, Dr. Dubose aims to dispel the stigma surrounding these treatments and elevate public awareness, ensuring that those in need can access the transformative help they deserve.

History of Ketamine

Ketamine has been used since 1963 as an anesthetic, but it was observed 20 years ago that it had an antidepressant effect, which scientists researched and eventually led to the FDA approval of Esketamine, a nasal spray called Spravato. Ketamine and TMS have shown themselves to be effective modalities for treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, and other mental health problems. Dr. Dubose stresses the importance of patients having access to more options to treat difficult mental health problems.
