Home care and in home care are both types of healthcare services that can be provided in the comfort of your own home. However, there is a difference between these two types of services. Home care is typically provided by non-medical personnel such as aides and companions while in home care is structured more like skilled medical care with skilled nurses providing assistance with activities of daily living (ADL).

In home care often requires an assessment from a doctor or other health professional to assess the level of assistance you need. This type of service may include help dressing, bathing, exercising, transferring into/out of bed or wheelchair and even administering medications or treatments. Skilled nurses who specialize in this type of service may also provide additional therapies such as physical, occupational, and speech therapies.
